The Alpha Course has been running for over 25 years. Over that time, it has been sued as a method of evangelization for people around the world. Alpha was started at Holy Trinity Brompton, an Anglican parish church in London, UK.

The Alpha Course seeks to present the core truths of the christian faith around which christians of every denomination can unite. The course is now being run as an on-going programme for evangelisim in Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Penticostal as well as Protestant churches of all denominations (Methodist, Anglican, Baptist, Presbyterian and Salvation Army) and non-demnominational churches around the world.

It is estimated that over 10 million people worldwide have attended an Alpha Course in over 160 countries. There are currently 35,000 courses running worldwide and Alpha resources have been translated into more than 70 languages. Alpha has been running in NIgeria since 2003.
